Hampshire County Council go 10G Intelligent

Able Data have received the contract to build a new Data Centre within HCC’s (Hampshire County Council) newly refurbished Ashburton Court offices in Winchester. Projected for completion Spring 2009, the new facility will initially include more than 80 equipment cabinets to house HCC’s central server equipment.

HCC have chosen Nexans to provide the cabling system, featuring Cat6a LANmark-6A copper cabling. The system will also include Nexans LANsense intelligent software, panels, cords and analysers to provide HCC with a fully intelligent patching solution. The solution will also integrate the Nexans intelligent power strips and Hawki control modules, allowing remote power monitoring and switching of all servers and equipment.

Rob Terry, a designer at Able Data commented “It is great to see IIM technology, that until recently was generally only used by leading City and other high profile organisations, being adopted for more main stream applications. This should prove an excellent reference site and case study for similar organisations who are looking to exploit the new technologies”.
